Derby City Comic Con

Derby City Comic Con

So Charlie and I finally made it through everything to the big event. Derby City Comic Con was this past Saturday, June 29th 2013, and by all measures it was a success. Attendance was up, vendors and artists had great sales, we had an wonderful turnout of amazingly dressed cosplayers, panels were full, and the guests were all enthusiastically talking about coming back next year as they left. Since most of our listeners were not able to make it, here are a few pictures of the some of the highlights of the event for me.

Abbie, Charlie and Jenna interviewed on WDRB Morning Show.

I kind of took charge of the media connections and managed to set up two different TV interviews for everyone. Not that it was hard. Local news stations seem to be just as excited by cosplayers as everyone else.

I also got to take a little bit of charge of the parties. I came up with the official cocktail of Derby City 2013, The Constantine, and it was served as a drink special at our launch party that also included a press conference and a drink and draw with some of our featured guests.

We had a great variety of big name and independent comic artists at the show. Everyone from Tony Moore and Steve Scott to a local teenager who won our young artist competition last year.

And of course, everyone’s favorite party of a comic con, the cosplayers. So many great costumes and personalities on display this year.

I am just now starting to come back to life after the craziness of the con weekend but it was all worth while. Thank you so much to Neitling Photography and the Louisville Courier-Journal for their amazing photography.
