This week on Episode 56 of The Charlie Tonic Hour we try some Conjure Cognac and discuss the history of cognac, brandy, and rappers. In addition to sipping it neat, I decided to make a cocktail with it. This classic cocktail is simplicity itself to make. The official International Bartenders Association recipe is to take equal parts cognac and amaretto mixed in a high ball glass over ice. That is the way we made it on the show but after trying it I think it could work well to mix the cognac and amaretto in a two to one ratio to cut some of the sweetness. This is a traditional after-dinner cocktail that appears to be making something of a comeback according to a quick perusal of the internet. As I noted in the show, it does have the advantage of looking like a tougher drink than it really is and since it is 100% alcohol it is fast acting as well. Although, since it is all alcohol, the quality of the drinks matters.
