Afternoon Social at the Howard Steamboat Museum:

The Corn Island Steampunk Society is pleased to announce that they are hosting their first official event since forming as a group, Saturday August 25th at the Howard Steamboat Museum in Jeffersonville, IN. Although the leaders of Corn Island have been frequent and found attendees to various Cincinnati area steampunk events, including competing in the Symposium games in 2012, this if the first time they have organized a large-scale gathering of their own.

Hey area steampunkers, come join The Corn Island Steampunk Society as we host our first event at the Howard Steamboat Museum, located in Jeffersonville Indiana. There will be a tour of the museum, door prizes, plenty of time for socializing, and lots of opportunities for photos at a place rich in Victorian architecture and full of artifacts from a time when steam boats ruled the waves! The museum closes at 4pm, and afterwards, we will caravan to King Fish on the river for dinner and socializing! So, polish your goggles and program your time machines and come join us for a day of steampunking at the museum. And remember, with The Corn Island Steampunk Society, it’s all about the steam!

Representatives of Steampunk Empire Symposium will be attending, including Aloysius Fox, Ginny Tonic and Charles Moore. Join us and the Corn Island Steampunk Society for a lovely afternoon picnic and stroll. The event is free to attend but it costs $6 for adults to get into the museum. Hope to see you all there!

Cin City Burlesque Fundraiser for Sassy Frass:

Once again we find ourselves encouraging you to make a donation to help a great person cover some devastating medical bills. Extrapolate about the state of our health care system as you will. But the good news is that this fundraiser comes with a kick-ass party and awesome drinks specials.

Sassy Frass, the co-founder of Cincinnati’s Premier Award-Winning Burlesque troupe Cin City Burlesque, suffered a brain aneurysm on July 30th. She was released to home care August 13th, and she is making a painful recovery. Her medical bills are piling up, and her sisters at Cin City and the incredible team at Django Western Taco have decided the best way to fundraise is with outstanding food, great drinks, silent auctions, the infamous Shot and a Kiss Booth, and mingling with Cin City.

The evenings activities will kick off at 6:00 p.m., and go until we’ve bled you dry of your fundraising cash. There is NO cover, but we do ask you to donate to her benefit savings account via check or cash, and to partake in ALL of the great fundraising drives that evening. ALL proceeds from Shot and a Kiss and the silent auction will go DIRECTLY to help pay her medical bills, as well as portions of drink specials. We can’t wait to have you join us for an evening of philanthropy the CCB way!

If you can’t attend but want to kick in a few dollars for this very worthy cause, you can donate safely online here.
