Robot Invades Mars!

Robot Invades Mars!

On Episode 35 of Charlie Tonic, Charlie and I geek out over the Mars Curiosity Rover and other amazing space facts. No matter how cynical and jaded our society has become, we can’t be too far gone if we can take the time to pause as a nation and celebrate landing a robot on Mars. The color photos coming back have been a source of fascination for me for the past two weeks and when I found out this thing has FREAKIN LASER BEAMS I was even more excited. You can hear more about our thoughts on space exploration and why I hope to be alive for first contact but in the mean time check some of the amazing photos of the Martian landscape.

At first I giggled a bit at the name of the upcoming destination for Curiosity, Glenelg. I thought “hah! palindrome!”
Then I noticed they named the rock that was blasted, N165, now called Coronation.
But then I noticed, there was a Lord GLENELG who was present at the CORONATION of Queen Victoria.
Reading too much into it? Perhaps. I haven’t found the reasoning behind the names that NASA chose. Still, an interesting (to me) coincidence..
