Sing Out Loud

Sing Out Loud

Recently, Ginny Tonic mentioned a “fun little website called Proust that helps you build your own autobiography by asking interesting questions and letting you answer, add pictures and share with friends”. I thought today it might be fun to accept that same challenge and answer a random question. Selecting the category of music, I pulled a question.

Is there a song you love to sing out loud?

I can’t sing it well, but I don’t care nor does it lessen the experience for me.

Anytime I hear “Hey Man (Now You’re Really Living)” by the Eels, I feel somewhere deep inside that I have to sing along. Especially the line “Now what would you say if i told you that everyone thinks you’re a crazy old cat, hey man now you’re really living.” I don’t think I’ve ever heard a phrase in a song that I feel was more meant for me.

Even my favorite song, Tom Waits “San Diego Serenade” doesn’t elicit this feeling of joining in like the Eels often do in their music.

    4 Non Blondes “What’s Up”
Cyndi Lauper “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”
Dexy’s Midnight Runners “Come On Eileen”
    Lady GaGa “Bad Romance”

Queen “Bohemian Rhapsody” “Fat Bottomed Girls” Heck, just about every Queen Song I have in my library.
    Ok, I couldn’t pick just one… sorry.

  2. Steve Lickman says:

I like to sing “The Cold Miser” song from “A Year Without a Santa Claus.” Yet, there’s a catch. I only sing it like Arnold Schwarzenegger in “Batman and Robin”.
