Pandora Society Update

The third annual Midsummer Masquerade at Loveland Castle is fast approaching! This magical event takes place July 21st at Loveland Castle. Yes for those of you who did not know it, Cincinnati has its own castle set right against the banks of the Little Miami river. Each July the Knights of the Castle are kind enough to open their doors to Pandora Promotions and Queen City Cabaret for us to host The Midsummer Masquerade.

The doors open at 8pm. We have face-painters and vendors selling masks, jewelry, and renting hookahs and various other treasures as well as ample time to tour the castle grounds before the show begins in the garden of the castle. The night’s festivities are hosted by MC Aloysius Fox with his characteristic charm, wit, and head of hair. Performances begin at 8:30 with aerial performances, sword swallowing and fire-breathing by Pickled Brother’s Circus, belly dancing and fire work by Zahara’s Tangled Web and Dante’s Gypsy Circus, and Magic from Robyn Marks. Guests are encouraged, but not required, to dress in costume. A costume contest will be held and the winners will receive free tickets to a future masquerade event so they can defend their title.

The Midsummer Masquerade will also be host to a contest to name the Crowns of the Houses of Pandora for our upcoming sci-fi and fantasy convention, Pandoracon. As you may know, a big part of the Pandoracon experience will be the games and contests woven through the weekend. In these games individuals will compete not only for their own glory but also for the glory of their House (see Houses of Pandora to learn more). Each guest will be assigned to one of four houses; hearts, diamonds, clubs or spades. Pandoracon is looking for some special Queens or Kings to serve as Crown and lead one of the House of Cards. In order to choose the best individuals for the job, a Crown Competition will be held at the Midsummer Masquerade.

Tickets for the Midsummer Masquerade are still available and only $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Parking is $5 at the castle and is limited. There is a free shuttle from the Meijer’s parking lot off Montgomery Road in Loveland. The Midsummer Masquerade is rain or shine.
