I openly admit that I am a DIE HARD Joss Whedon fan. That said, there have been moments when I’ve been lukewarm to some of his work in comics (Buffy over at Dark Horse being a clear exception), but his television work remains some of my favorite series of all time. My library shelves are lined with the seasons of Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Dollhouse. I’ve been counting down the days to the Avengers premiere and I’ve never given up hope that one day we may see Ripper (as I’ve discussed previously) finally come together over at the BBC (as has been rumored off and on for years).
If I didn’t already respect the work, I would have found respect the man after listening to a speech he made back in 2006 in support of Equality Now. His dedication to empowering women through his work as a creator is pretty admirable in my opinion. If you haven’t seen this video, take a few minutes and let me know if, in the end, you don’t agree it’s solid stuff.
